My course is live!

YES! My course is actually live on Thinkific and it was so much easier than I thought! I chose the Start Plan and everything from the Course Builder to the Custom Domain Hosting was just so simple. I even played around with the Marketing Tools Integration. I'm telling all my creator friends about this! What a platform!

Good course creation tools

I signed up for the Thinkific Grow Plan last month to move my online coaching program over. The Course Builder was pretty intuitive; I got my first few modules set up fairly quickly. I used the Live Lessons with Zoom feature for my weekly Q&A, and it worked without a hitch. Student Management Dashboard is decent, helps keep track of progress. My main gripe was the Drip Content setup felt a little less streamlined than I expected, took a bit of fiddling to get the timing just right. Overall, the platform is solid and handles a good chunk of what I need for my courses. I'll probably stick with it for a while.

Basic plan worked well

I used the Thinkific Basic Plan to launch my first course. Set up was easy. Uploaded videos. Got payments working. No issues. It did what I needed.

Easy to get started

So, I decided to try out Thinkific for a side project I had, just wanted to put up a quick course. I went with the Free Plan to start, just to poke around. The Site Builder Themes were pretty simple to customize, which was cool. I didn't even read a manual, just kinda figured it out. It felt pretty straightforward, like they designed it for people who aren't super techy. I uploaded a few lessons and it all just worked. Definitely a good experience for someone new to all this.

Consistent platform performance

This was my third time using Thinkific, and I upgraded from the Start Plan to the Grow Plan this time for more features like the Thinkific Communities. I've always appreciated their reliability. My previous course launches went smoothly, and this one was no different. The platform loads quickly, and students haven't reported any major bugs. I still find myself wishing for a bit more flexibility in the Quiz and Assessment Tool, but it's a minor point. The consistent uptime and ease of use are why I keep coming back; it just gets the job done without fuss, which is important when you're running multiple courses.

My organization is a non-profit. Does Thinkific offer any special pricing or discounts for non-profits?

C Cleo 2 months ago
I'm pretty sure they do have a non-profit discount. You'd probably need to contact their sales team or support to get it sorted out.

S Sam 1 month ago
Yeah, I've heard of other non-profits getting a special rate. It's worth reaching out to them directly to ask about it, they don't advertise it super widely on the main pricing pages.

Does Thinkific handle video hosting, or do I need to use Vimeo or YouTube for my course videos?

P Paula 1 month ago
They host your videos directly, so you don't need to worry about external services like YouTube or Vimeo for that.

G Greg Walsh 1 month ago
Thinkific hosts all your course videos. It's built right into the platform, which is super convenient because you don't have to manage separate accounts or worry about embedding issues.

Thinking of starting my online course thing. Does Thinkific take a cut of my sales or do I keep all the money?

R Ryan Hughes 2 months ago
Nah, they don't take a percentage of your sales. That's one of the cool things about them.
2
N Nick 2 months ago
You keep 100% of your sales, which is pretty sweet compared to some other platforms. Just gotta pay for your plan.

Hey, I'm trying to decide between Thinkific and Teachable. Anyone used both and have a strong preference? What's the main difference in your experience?

J James Patel 1 month ago
I tried Teachable first, switched to Thinkific. Thinkific just felt more flexible for branding and customizing my site. Teachable was a bit more restrictive for me.

Both are good, but I found Thinkific's course builder a bit more intuitive. Also, if you want a lot of control over your site's look and feel, Thinkific might be better. Teachable is sometimes seen as simpler for absolute beginners, though.

Are there any discounts for annual billing or is it always just monthly pricing? Trying to save some cash.

N Nick A. 2 months ago
Big time! You usually save like 20% if you pay annually instead of monthly. It's a pretty standard discount.

E Elena Okafor 2 months ago
Yeah, paying for the whole year upfront usually gets you a decent discount. That's how I do it to save some money. It's definitely cheaper than the month-to-month option.

Does Thinkific offer any kind of free trial for their paid plans? I wanna try out the 'Grow' plan before committing to a whole month.

A Andre Walsh 2 months ago
They usually have a 30-day free trial for premium plans. Check their site, there's usually a link for it.
3
E Emma Hughes 2 months ago
Yeah, I think you can get a free trial for a month for some of the higher plans. It's usually through a specific link, not just signing up normally, so keep an eye out for that.

How do you even put in a promo code if you have one? Is there a box during checkout or something?

C Cody 1 month ago
When you go to upgrade your plan, there's usually a spot to enter a promo code during the checkout process.
6
C Colin L. 1 month ago
Yeah, look for a field or link that says 'promo code' or 'coupon' when you're selecting your plan and going to pay. That's where you'd pop it in.

planning to sell my courses on Thinkific. I already have my own domain name, can I use that instead of a Thinkific subdomain?

C Carly 1 month ago
Yep, you can definitely use your own custom domain. Helps with branding.
4
M Mike 1 month ago
For sure, custom domains are supported. It makes your courses look way more professional, like it's all part of your own site, not just some third-party platform.
